We know sadly not everyone has an independent bookstore in their town, so we are bringing the independent bookstore experience to you!
The Book Drop is a subscription program lovingly run by a little independent bookstore at the beach, Bethany Beach Books. Bethany Beach Books has been Bethany Beach, Delaware's independent bookstore for over 30 years. Established in 1991, Bethany Beach Books is just steps from the boardwalk and open daily, year round.
The Book Drop was created in 2015 by Bethany Beach Book's manager & book-buyer, Amanda. Amanda still curates many of our subscriptions! The Book Drop strives to bring the independent bookstore experience to readers all over the country via surprise book each month.
The Book Drop started in the little back office at Bethany Beach Books but quickly outgrew that space. For awhile, The Book Drop was even packed at Amanda's house! We now pack every subscription by hand at at our second location - our Book Drop headquarters - in West Fenwick Island, Delaware. A lot of love, time, and effort goes into each subscription before it reaches its reader.

Our Mission
Our mission is to spread the love of reading by exposing people to really amazing books & incredible authors. We all have busy lives and unless you are surrounded by books all day (like us lucky folk), it's a bit overwhelming to pick out one REALLY good book when there are so many options. That's what we are here for... to pick out the best of the best and mail them your way, to be dropped on your doorstep or mailbox each month.
We understand that you can get a better deal on that site-that-shall-not-be-named, but this subscription program isn't about getting the cheapest price, it's about having a small independent bookstore select their favorite books and sending them your way once a month. It's about helping people discover fantastic reads & diverse authors, and putting marvelous books into the hands of readers - books they might not have discovered otherwise. If you're looking for the cheapest subscription or the cheapest book, you won't find that here... we don't deal in cheap, we deal in fantastic, fabulous, & marvelous books.
